I could hate you now –
You in the soft grass
you wait for protection
the lion approaches you and you don’t flinch
calmness is infuriating

He nuzzles your small neck    there’s a giggle
startling little giggle
he jumps back and I lunge forward

he wins you in his mouth
I am crying on my back,    heart
removed from  being
