Poem: “Dog With One Eye” Maggie Boyle

Get lost
a road
never ends.

Pick a spot to stay
night reminds
you of somewhere
you have never been.

Choose the dog missing
an eye because
he reminds you
of a person you saw
looking back
once.

Buy
the sunglasses and the bracelet.
Buy the ring and the shoes.

Take them
off
each night
because you’re a nomad looking
for a home in a dog
with one eye.

(and because you have nothing to lose)
